Country Store Thrift Shop
The Country Store Thrift Shop was established nearly fifty years ago to make low-cost clothing available to low-income families in Washingtonville. The Women's Fellowship of the Blooming Grove United Church of Christ and the PTA Health Fund decided to use the proceeds to help families in the Washingtonville Central School District. Proceeds from the thrift shop have gone to purchase defibulators for all the schools in the district. Scholarships are granted each year to students going into professions related to health care, and funds are available to assist needy families. Volunteers from the Blooming Grove UCC and the community work hard to keep up with the sorting of clothing and household items. The Blooming Grove UCC has one night a month for volunteers who work during the day to help with the various tasks. This is a thriving mission and a valuable asset to our community. For more information, or if you would like to volunteer, please contact Janet Steeves at RSteeves@frontiernet.net.
